Minecraft 1.3

Now there's a big update tomorrow everyone, but if you plan on staying on the 1.2.5 server, please back up your 1.2.5 .jar file or don't update. The server won't update immediately as we must wait for Bukkit and our plugins to update. Please sit tight and wait a week or so, maybe even shorter. I for one have to wait for my 10 million mods to update, lol.

It says you can start your own server and people can come with the IP.

Yes and no sou. This creates a LAN server, or Local Area Network. Local area being any computer connected to your router that have minecraft. Something that will be useful for people who wanna screen cap a let's play in the same household, but don't want to make a whole minecraft server.

No need to apologize sou, it's all good. I completely understand. I knew nothing about computers until I took an IT Essentials class in High School. I believe your typical server is a WAN which is Wide Area Network. Which means anyone in the world with internet and the correct client can join. This of course uses a lot of bandwidth. In 1.3, you publish a server to your LAN or Local Area Network. Anyone else who has minecraft on your network will see this server in their multiplayer list automatically.
